Use sources that show the number before asking who you are: your county assessor’s parcel record, recorded nearby sales, and valuation tools that display the estimate with no contact form. Many home-value sites are lead-generation businesses — the estimate is the bait, and the phone number you enter is sold to agents who pay for seller leads. A site that requires your number before showing a value is one of them.
